Panoply

Alchemy in Every Bottle

A workshop for bespoke scents, made by consultation. Come in, mind the clutter: everything on these shelves can be poked, and most of it leads somewhere. The raven is friendlier than he looks.

Poke the shelves, see where they lead. The raven is the guard. He's doing his best.

The Perfumer

Panoply is a perfumer's workshop: a bench buried under tinctures, resins, absolutes, half-labeled vials and notebooks that only make sense to him. He works in small batches and by hand, and he would rather spend a month getting one accord right than put out ten that are merely fine.

None of it is very solemn. He likes strange materials, long conversations about what a smell reminds you of, and the moment a blend stops arguing with itself. If that sounds like your kind of thing, you are in the right laboratory.

“A perfume should unlock distant memories and tell a story without the use of words.”

- Perfumer and keeper of the bench

Three words, his own
  • Eccentric.
  • Cluttered.
  • Laid back.

Which also describes the shelves.

How it works here

No shop, no cart. Every bottle starts with a conversation, so the quickest way in is the consultation further down.

The Scent Library

A few bottles from the bench. Any of them can be the starting point for something made just for you.

Nocturne

The Dark Hours

Oriental woody

For the hours between midnight and dawn. Musk and aged oud folded into night-blooming jasmine, with a whisper of smoked vanilla. Wears close, like a secret against the skin.

Bearer of Mysteries

Spicy aromatic

Incense-laden and ritualistic. Frankincense and myrrh meet saffron and aged leather, like stepping into a candlelit room where something has been burning for a very long time.

The Green Hour

The Bespoke Process

A bespoke perfume is not picked off a shelf. It is grown, one conversation and one vial at a time, until it could not belong to anyone else.

  1. The Sitting

You answer a few questions, some of which seem to have nothing to do with perfume. They do.

  2. The Accord

The perfumer composes a handful of trial blends for you and sends them over to live with for a while.

  3. The Tinkering

You tell him what you love and what you would quietly throw out. He adjusts. Repeat until it is right.

  4. The Bottling

Your formula is crafted, bottled, and written into the ledger under your name.

Send a Raven

Five quick questions about what you love, when you would wear it, and how loud it should be. The perfumer reads every answer himself and writes back with ideas.
